Finally, I got my garden tidied up!
Finally, I completed the final revision for a book I co-edited, and we are ready for the book launch.
My garden was messy for the whole winter. Every time I saw it, I either blamed everyone, including myself, or tried to convince myself that I don’t have time to keep a lovely garden at this season of my life.
For the book, I was sitting with the revision for three weeks, and did nothing about it except being worried about being chased.
The day came finally when I could not put off these tasks anymore:
- My roses started having new shoots, but we didn’t trim the old stems off.
- The book launch date is on the calendar, and all the authors are invited.
And I got both of these tasks done.
To my amazement, it only took less than two hours to have a tidied garden with two little ones enjoying helping. And it only took me one hour to complete the final revision for the book.
Ah, I felt the relief. Then I asked myself why I procrastinated on these tasks?
- I assumed they would take much longer to complete.
- I thought the process to get them done would be painful.
Are you putting off some tasks for your research right now?Ask yourself why it’s crucial to get them done? If you’re convinced that these tasks are essential for your PhD.
