If you don’t like how things are, change it. You’re not a tree. __Jim Rohn
I loved this quote, and it always made me smile. It might be a bit unfair to the trees.
Somehow, everyone wants some changes in their life.
The concept of change is simple and straightforward. There is a lot of teaching around this topic. It makes sense: where we are is the result of our previous action, and where we will be is the result of what we’re doing now. If we want to land somewhere different, we need to do something different, hence the change. Take responsibility, change our habits, the way we think and the way we feel…
However, layer by layer, I realised that the core emotions and beliefs rooted deeply. We can change our looks, the way we walk, or our daily routine. However, if we want a change that lasts and truly transforms our life, we need to audit our emotions and beliefs and see whether a small or big upgrade is required. On the other hand, I realised how tightly I hold on to my core emotions and beliefs, from worry, shame, and disappointment, to anger. Even though I know some of them are negative and keep my energy low, I found it’s nearly impossible to let them go and replace them with positive ones. It’s like, I understood, but I won’t. I was addicted to these negativities. Yet, somehow, they comforted me and made me feel justified and normal.
Does this make any sense?
Yes and no. Yes, it makes sense. No, I don’t want it. For some reason, I started listening to Lynn Grabhorn’s audiobook: Excuse me, your life is waiting, which has been sitting in my library for years, and I didn’t even remember I bought it.
Ah, flipping, it’s what I need. Here is how to use it.
As soon as you catch yourself bathing in negative pools, take a couple of deep breaths and immediately FLIP your attention to something you appreciate. And the trick is to prepare a list to help you place your focus on the positive spots in your life in advance. It can be challenging to come up with something nice about your life on the spot, especially when you’re in a negative place. Are you ready to be the change? This simple technique can help you uplift your energy level and prepare the ground for any positive change you bring into your life.
Give it a go!
